How to repair Nuwave oven dome

NuWave is a countertop oven manufactured by Hearthware, Inc. NuWave ovens combine infrared, convection and conduction technologies for fast, even cooking. They also have a clear plastic dome that allows you to watch your food while it’s cooking. Although the dome is designed to withstand the heat of the oven, improper care can weaken the plastic and cause it to crack. Learning how to properly use, clean and store the dome helps prevent cracking and other damage.

Assembly and use of the dome

Incorrect assembly of oven components or on an unstable surface creates unwanted stress on the dome. To assemble the NuWave, place the tray and roasting pan in the base of the oven. The handles of the liner tray must be in the lowered position so that the dome is properly seated against the base. Place the head unit at the top of the dome and turn the knobs clockwise to lock it in place. When using the oven, lift the dome by the handles on the power head.

Care

The manufacturer recommends washing the dome in warm, soapy water before first use and after each subsequent use. Always wait for the dome to cool completely before cleaning it. You can wash the dome by hand or in the dishwasher. Do not use abrasive cleaners or dry dishes in the dishwasher, as they may damage the plastic. Allow the NuWave dome to air dry or wipe it with a soft towel.

Storage

The NuWave comes with a wire holder that attaches to the base of the oven. You can slip the dome and power head assembly onto the holder while moving food into or out of the oven. However, the manufacturer cautions owners against storing the dome on the holder for extended periods of time. To avoid damaging the dome, store the oven fully assembled.

Replace

If the NuWave oven’s plastic dome does crack, you can replace it. NuWave furnaces come with a one-year limited warranty that covers the dome and other components against manufacturer’s defects. Contact NuWave customer service to see if you qualify for a free replacement. Even if damage to the dome is not covered under the terms of the warranty, you can order a replacement dome camera from the NuWave website.
